I am an Missouri-based jewelry artisan specializing in jewelry that goes beyond trinkets to treasures.
I’ve always been interested in historical costume and personal adornment. I think from there I became interested in jewelry. From there stones. From there I started creating, because I needed an outlet for my ideas and energy. My goal is to create little pieces of art that people will want to pass down through the generations, or sometimes I just want to make something fun to wear day-to-day. I hope to pass a little bit of my interests, obsessions, and loves to the wearer of my jewelry. I want to make things that royalty would wear in the past and people today can wear as they walk through their own histories.
The materials I use depend on what type of piece I wish to make. Is it high quality filigree and stones? I start looking at the endless color combinations I could use. Maybe I start with green. What colors make that stand out or blend in? Is there a connection to the past or a certain culture? What is the traditional significance of a piece? I work all of this out in my head while I’m drawing the sketch out on paper. People may not realize it, but a lot of my work has full-blown research behind it. I’m endlessly fascinated with gathering information, and I’m thrilled that the need to do so can tie into my art.
I’m attempting to take the past, present, and future and tie them into a nice little bow of a bracelet or pair of earrings. I want to create a piece of jewelry based on an ancient Roman talisman, put it on a bride to wear, and have her descendants treasure it not only for it’s sentimental value but the beauty behind it. I want to blend American culture with exotic locales and traditional arts of distant lands. I want you to love your jewelry.
